Partners Darren West and Brent Vickery are dedicated to providing the highest level of professional service which is personalised, prompt, flexible, and cost-effective.
Meet The Directors
Darren first commenced work with GFM Accountants in 1993 – yes that’s 26 years ago. He started work whilst still studying at University when the firm consisted of 3 employees in total. Darren’s passion from the outset was to make sure his clients achieved a successful outcome for the amount of effort, long hours and sleepless night they endure. He became a Partner in August 2000 at the age of 28 just as GST was launched in Australia. He loves to work with business owners to strive to achieve more. If you didn’t already know Darren loves the Western Bulldogs and all sport in general. Darren has coached local football at Strathmore Football Club for the last 10 years. He also follows his 3 children around on weekends watching and supporting whatever their chosen event is.
Brent specialises in providing taxation and business advice to individuals, and small to medium sized businesses across a wide range of industries, assisting them in achieving their goals. Brent began working at GFM Accountants in 2003 and became a director in 2006. Prior to GFM Accountants Brent worked for a Chartered Accounting practice from 1998 to 2003 that specialised in providing accounting and taxation services for Medical Professionals. Brent’s professional qualifications and memberships included Bachelor of Business (Accounting), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), Registered Tax Agent, Public Practice Certificate and Diploma of Financial Services. Outside the office Brent loves his family time with his wife and two children. Brent’s interests include keeping fit, surfing, skiing and travelling. Brent is also a passionate Western Bulldogs supporter.
Meet The Team
Being the longest serving employee with the firm, Andrew has 20 years bookkeeping experience. Managing and arranging the lodgement of BAS / IAS on behalf of clients is his primary role. Andrew can assist with any GST , Payroll or staff issues you may have. Being partnered with Macquarie Leasing for over 20 years Andrew can assist with your finance requirements and in a quick and easy process you can obtain that new vehicle or equipment you require. Struggling to pay those ATO debts have no fear over the year Andrew has built a strong relationship with the ATO and can arrange strategic payment plans to be put in place on your behalf.
Rebecca has been employed with GFM for 14 years. Many will remember Rebecca starting out as our Receptionist all those years ago. As a long standing employee, she has considerable knowledge of our clients and services and is an invaluable support system to the firm. As Office Manager, Rebecca assists the Directors with internal business administration, running our ASIC (Australian Securities & Investment Commission) system and working as part of the Office Administration Team. In her spare time she enjoy holidays down the Surf Coast with her young family, being active and spending time with family and friends.
Peter joined GFM Accountants in 2006 as a graduate accountant and now heads up our Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) division.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Business (majoring in Accounting) from Victoria University. Peter’s expertise in the Superannuation field has proven particularly beneficial for those clients who are looking to expand their SMSF assets outside of their personal investments.
Peter enjoys spending time with his family and watching his beloved LA Lakers.
As a CPA, Brendan has been working in public practice since March 2000 and he joined GFM in July 2009. As a fierce supporter of the Adelaide Crows, he was very surprised to be offered a job by 2 bulldog supporters but has enjoyed his time with the firm ever since. He believes strongly in volunteering and is an active member of scouts Victoria, along with both of his children, as members of the 1st Hoppers Crossing Scout Group.
Jenny joined the GFM team in July 2010 as Senior Office Administrator. She comes to us with many years of experience having started her career with another local accounting firm in 1978. Jenny has a wealth of knowledge and is always on hand, ready, willing and able to assist with most general queries.
If you don’t find Jenny in the office, these days you will find her off enjoying the odd game of Bingo or a movie with friends, up in Swan Hill watching her daughter’s netball games and calisthenics competitions or over in Japan with her husband visiting their son, his wife and grandchildren.
Chris has been with GFM Accountants since 2012 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting) from Deakin University. He has over 6 years' experience in public practice and has had exposure to a diverse range of clients. Chris has also branched out and now assists Peter with the SMSF division of our firm. He is a vital member of our team and helps drive the mood in the office. In his spare time he enjoys playing cricket and golf and spending time with his family.
